PRESS RELEASE
Philippine Cooperative Center celebrates this day with all Manggagawang Pilipino. We acknowledge the service and sacrifice of our workers – from formal, and contractual, to workers of the informal sector.
The Philippine Cooperative Center recognizes, first and foremost, the service of our cooperative workers – from staff to different secretariats maintaining, improving, and developing our enterprises for our members.
PCC believes that grassroots workers are the primary contributors to the development of the country. As such, we believe that their rights and benefits are of utmost importance. By ensuring a living wage, security of tenure, and sustainability of jobs (among others) for our workers, we can guarantee the growth of the country.
PCC has always supported the fight and advocacy of our laborers. One of the beleaguered sectors – the transport sector – has been at the forefront due to the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP). In support of the transport sector, PCC pushes for a just transition in the PUVMP.
The labor sector and the cooperative sector have long been working together for the betterment of society, with coops striving to be a viable venue for a professional career and personal growth and fighting for a just and equitable society, and the labor sector striving to improve worker’s rights and pushing for enterprises that are morally and socially responsible. Not to mention that it is often laborers who create and form cooperatives to actualize their advocacy and vision.
