The Philippine Cooperative Center once again had shown its deed of compassion when it held its relief works last May 25, 2020 to its fellow cooperators in need, especially those along Batangas Province. This would also supplement the income of the farmers in

Batangas during the lock down period while food supplyis being provided by the LGU’s and other entities like the cooperatives.

Among the beneficiaries of the relief efforts were Pilipinas Kyoritsu Inc. Multipurpose Cooperative (PEMCO) in Lipa, Batangas, which received relief packs for 1,059 member-families; and Agro-Industrial Cooperative of Mataas na Kahoy (AICOM) in Mataas na Kahoy, Batangas, wherein member-families were given 1,226 repacked goods. The relief goods consisted of rice and fresh produce like carrots, potatoes, sayote and pumpkin (kalabasa).

PCC extends its special thanks to PEMCO General Manager Ruel Punzalan and General Manager, Michael Palo of AICOM for helping in the repacking and distribution of the relief goods.

This recent round of relief works is among those conducted by PCC in partnership with other cooperators, in their bid to provide the much-needed aid both members as well as affected communities, indigenous people and hospitals and health service centers throughout the country. The different arrangements of aid that PCC and its partners in the movement are a result of their pooling their financial and other resources in the form of relief goods in the most effective and feasible way they can.

Amidst the odds, the concerted efforts of kindness and care from the movement in these times of crisis equally underscore their invaluable role in uplifting the lives and well-being of their

beneficiaries, who have responded with great smiles and gratitude of the different forms of help these cooperators have provided. And what better way is there that sum up the kindness that cooperatives instill among its members and the people that they serve other than the joy seen in the faces of everyone?
